Sonic Origins release date, new features and more

Sonic Origins is finally approaching its release date. Sega released a new trailer for the upcoming remastered collection of four classic Sonic titles during Sonic Central Livestream. The video titled “Sonic Origins Release Date Trailer” shows brief gameplay footage from the classics.

Last month, Sega released the first trailer for the remasters, revealing full details including release date, titles, game modes, and other such information. Blue Blur fans are all excited because it will be the beloved hedgehog’s biggest birthday party yet.

Here’s a breakdown of the latest Sonic Origins trailer that takes us down the roads of nostalgia as it showcases gameplay from the classics.

Preview: Sonic Origins Release Date Trailer

During the Sonic Central Livestream on June 7, 2022, Sega revealed a new trailer for Sonic Origins. The latest release date trailer offers brief previews of the four classic Sonic games that will be part of the remastered collection, before moving on to the release date.

You can take a look at the trailer below:

The trailer shows gameplay footage from the classic titles- Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and sonic cd. Players can also see the new cinematics of the highly anticipated story mode.

You can see the iconic visuals of Green Hill Zone, the Motobug Badnik, the Flickies emerging from robots, and the animals captured in the pod bringing back memories of the good old days.

There are also new features where you can choose between Sonic, Tails, Knuckles or their pairs to play with. There is also a new “Pause” menu. Other highlights in the sequence include the South Island, West Island, and Floating Island of the various games.

You can also see the Veg-O-Fortress from Sonic Spinball and Museum Mode which appears to be the island that appeared in 3D Sonic Blast. Finally, the trailer reveals the release date of Sonic Origins and its availability on the platforms.

Sonic Origins is coming June 23, 2022

The trailer confirms the Sonic Origins release date (again) as the previous one also did the same. The remastered collection of classic Sonic the Hedgehog games arrives Thursday, June 23, 2022. We’ll update the launch time by region for Sonic Origins later.

Sonic Origins will be available the same day the massively popular hedgehog turns 31. The remastered collection was revealed and announced last year in May to celebrate Sonic’s 30th anniversary.

Sonic Origins will be available on all major platforms

Upon launch, Sonic Origins will be available digitally on all major platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. The standard edition will cost $39.99 while the deluxe edition will cost $44.99.

What else did Sega reveal at Sonic Central LiveStream?

Sonic Origins was the highlight of the recent Sonic Central Livestream. However, Sega also teased a slew of footage from old and new games while showcasing previews of Sonic’s second entry to the big screen.

Ben Schwartz took to the screen and promoted the new Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie which is seemingly hilarious and witty at the same time. It apparently features some of the coolest moments in the series and fans are going to love it.

Then, the live stream unveiled a preview of Sonic Frontiers. It will be an open-world game with a new concept. However, not much is known about this yet. It still has some time in the development phase, and we can only wait for more announcements.

Sega also gave us a preview of Sonic’s next animated series on Netflix – Sonic Prime. It seems like a very exciting time to be in as a Blue Hedgehog fan. There are a lot of things planned and the coming months will be amazing.

For now, Sonic Origins seems to be Sega’s priority followed by the movie and Sonic Frontiers. Hopefully the studio delivers great time. What are your expectations? Tell us in the comments.
