Mike Kotzian, managing director of Kivnon USA, a leader in the development, design, production and distribution of automated guided vehicles (AGVs), recently wrote a feature article in Robotics Tomorrow. Read the full feature here.
According to Kotzian, some 2022 AGV (automated guided vehicle) and AMR (automated mobile robot) buyers are seriously considering purchasing magnetic propulsion solutions because they have been tested, established and working well for more than two decades. If there is a knock or complaint about this technology, it is about interruptions when the magnetic tape is damaged.
Kivnon USA has an innovative new mobile phone app, FlexTag. It allows the customer to repair damaged magnetic guide strips and replace, reprogram or reuse RFID navigation waypoints and can be performed without technical assistance or third party visits. Removing this objection, the advantage of magnetic AGVs/AMRs is that they can be ordered and delivered in 2022, while many vision-guided and SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) trucks are seriously behind schedule until 2023 and beyond.
Kivnon will exhibit at MODEX 2022 in Atlanta March 28-31 at booth #C5488.
