The second season of Starzit is Power Book III: Raising Kanan is set to premiere on August 14, and viewers can get their first look at the recently released teaser for the highly anticipated crime drama.

Set in the early 1990s, the third series in the Power universe follows the origin story of fan favorite Kanan Stark (MeKai Curtis) and his journey through the criminal underworld through his ruthless, drug-dealing mother Raquel (Miller Patina). Season two will see mother and son drift apart as Raquel takes control of the town’s drug trade and Kanan returns to Queens unsure of his future with the family business.

“I know we have our differences, but at the end of the day, we’re blood, and that’s way more important than any static between us,” Raquel told Kanan in the trailer (see below) . “I thought I was made for this, but I don’t think I’m ready for all of this,” Kanan says.

Season 2 will see Kanan search for the truth about his past as Raquel boldly expands the business into hostile Mafia territory. Meanwhile, Kanan’s uncle Lou Lou (Malcolm Mays) continues to build his emerging label, but Raquel isn’t about to let her side hustle get in the way of her expansion.

In addition to Miller, Curtis and Mays, the cast also includes Omar Epps (Accommodation), London Brown (Ballers), Hailey Kilgore (amazing stories), Joey Bada$$ (Mister Robot) and Shanley Caswell (Conspiracy) with Quincy Brown (Dope) and Toby Sandeman (The Royals) recurrent. Antonio Ortiz (The fishermanlisten)) was promoted to a series regular for the second season.

The new episodes will air at midnight on the Starz app, on all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms, and internationally on the Starzplay service. In linear, it will debut on Starz at 9 p.m. ET/PT in the United States and Canada.
