Merchant orders on the Unilever app increase by 76 pc



Lever Bazar, a business-to-business digital self-ordering platform from Unilever Bangladesh, is seeing increasing orders from retailers looking to restock store shelves.

The platform saw 76% year-over-year growth, bringing online orders from 2021 to a total of 14.26 lakh, according to the company.

The multinational’s average daily order count now stands at more than 6,000, a press release said.

Unilever launched this initiative for its fast-moving consumer goods three months before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in Bangladesh.

The goal was to make it easy for registered retailers across the country to place orders instead of having to wait for company representatives.

The initiative showed its potential when the government imposed a nationwide lockdown to stem the spread of contagion, as circumstances were such that company officials could not always reach traders on time.

Mohammad Polash, a small trader in a remote area of ​​Dinajpur, explained how he benefited from downloading the app from the Google Play store and placing orders for deliveries, all in the same week.

“Now I… can also track my orders through this app… It’s a great experience for me,” he said.
