Doctor Strange 2 was yet another hit in a long string of hits for the MCU, attracting more $942 million worldwide. Part of that success was due to the promise of seeing various characters drawn from all corners of the multiverse. With the complexity of the story and all the important characters that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse madness had to juggle, it’s no surprise that some scenes were left on the cutting room floor. A deleted scenerecently released, sees a young Stephen Strange and his former lover Christine Palmer talk about a procedure they dreamed up together in an interview. Check out the clip below:

Watching the clip, it’s not too hard to see why Doctor Strange 2 couldn’t fit in this scene. While this gives us a bit more backstory on Strange’s career as a surgeon and the work he did with Rachel McAdam’s Christine Palmer, it probably would have felt awkward to be placed in the already-heavy film. . Although the film focused on the relationship between the two at several points, it doesn’t really seem like this scene would have added much to the story.

An interesting possibility for this scene would be that the strange seen in the clip is a variant of Doctor Strange that we know. Doctor Strange 2 had several variations of Doctor Strange featured throughout the film, most of them far less noble than the weird of the primary universe. Perhaps this scene would have shown Strange what his life would be like if he had never had the car accident that damaged his hands, leading him to search for a way to heal them and become the Sorcerer. Supreme.

Whatever the reason, they cut that scene from Doctor Strange 2, the end result would be the same. In the film, Christine Palmer married someone else. Although Doctor Strange encounters a variant of Christine Palmer while in Illuminati custody, he eventually returns to his own universe. This means that there will probably no longer be a romantic relationship between the two former colleagues. However, the next time we see Doctor Strange, he might have a new love interest in the form of Charlize Theron’s Clea. In the end credits scene, we see Clea walk through a portal to seek help from Doctor Strange, who now has a third eye. In the comics, these two characters are romantically involved, and Clea is easily Doctor Strange’s best-known love interest.

It’s always interesting to see what isn’t used in MCU movies, and like Doctor Strange 2 approaching a home release, there’s always a chance we could get some more deleted scenes. Until then, we’ll just have to make do with the current version of the film we have. If you haven’t seen Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness again or if you want to relive the madness, you’ll soon be able to watch it from the comfort of your couch. It is set to arrive on Disney+ on June 22.
