BMW casts Arnold Schwarzenegger as Zeus and more

Year after year, many automakers go for a cheeky Super Bowl commercial. Which will be the most talked about this year? We’ve got the roundup of different companies and which silly Super Bowl commercial will debut during the big game. Super Bowl LVI takes place on Sunday, February 13 and will feature commercials from BMW, General Motors, Kia, Nissan and Toyota. Here are the Super Bowl automaker commercials we already know, including Arnold Schwarzenegger as Zeus.

The Terminator, Kindergarten Cop, Hercules, Conan the Barbarian and more feature the iconic former governor of California. According to CarScoops, a Super Bowl ad for BMW features the same actor playing Zeus, the sky god in ancient Greek mythology. As you might have guessed, the god of lightning is being used to advertise the automaker’s new line of electric vehicles. Models like the iX and i4 only use a battery and an electric motor, so Zeus is the perfect person to show them off.

Nissan’s Super Bowl commercial features Eugene Levy, Danai Gurira and Dave Bautista

While we don’t yet know each actor’s role, Nissan’s teaser video indicates that they’ll all be there on the big day. Set as an action-comedy-thriller movie premiere, Nissan presents “Thrill Driver,” featuring the automaker’s all-new Z sports coupe. What better way to advertise a fun-to-drive sports car? It seems best to put it straight into Nissan’s custom action movie with a few familiar faces. This looks to be one of the automaker’s most interesting Super Bowl commercials that is sure to grab some attention.

For the third consecutive year, General Motors will appear

The GMC HUMMER EV SUV complements the HUMMER EV family and features a 126.7-inch wheelbase for tight proportions and a nimble body, delivering remarkable on-road and off-road capability.

For the third year in a row, GM has a spot during the Super Bowl, unlike many others. Unfortunately, he didn’t provide any details on what’s to come. We’re going to get a surprise from GM on the big day, with no teaser video available at all. The possibilities are endless, with new vehicles and redesigns everywhere for the brand. If the company goes the electrified route on its own, we could see the Hummer EV, Silverado EV and maybe even the electric Escalade.

Kia EV6 commercial will air during Super Bowl LVI

Kia confirmed a few weeks ago that it would run a Super Bowl commercial this year. The company has a 60-second spot which will be the 13th time it has appeared in the big game. Kia has released a very short teaser featuring the Kia EV6 and a robotic dog “which embarks on a journey to find its true companion”.

How many automakers will run ads during the Super Bowl?

This year, there are already five manufacturers confirmed for February 13. That’s a lot compared to last year, when only Stellantis, GM and Toyota participated. Since there are still a few weeks left, even more companies could announce their announcements before the big day. More than five automaker ads is a lot, even for the biggest trade watch day of the year. Hopefully, BMW’s announcement will inspire someone to make a Greek mythology movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger as Zeus sooner rather than later.
