ATLANTA – ADT Commercial announces that it is nearing commercialization of its intelligent autonomous surveillance solutions and is showcasing new updates to its humanoid robotics and indoor drone technologies at GSX 2022.

ADT Commercial’s suite of intelligent autonomous surveillance solutions will use AI and AR in combination with autonomous humanoid robots and indoor drones for comprehensive security surveillance of a wide variety of commercial areas, according to the company .

Current versions of humanoid robotics and indoor drone technologies in development and on display at GSX offer a wealth of additional functionality – virtually all of which has been driven by feedback from select pilot partners who have deployed the solutions in their commercial facilities. .

“Our approach to innovation is entirely focused on customer needs and in tune with the instant pulse of the industry. Especially given the costly turnover and labor shortages that have built up in the security market over the past few years, we saw a way forward to help our customers through technology” , says Ed Bacco, ADT vice president, Enterprise Security Risk Group. “We are focused on solutions that create the necessary changes and disruptions in the commercial security landscape and can address these types of ever-changing challenges. But the way we make these changes must start with the customer and be customer-driven. »

In addition to performing autonomous patrols, performing two-way communications between the public and an operator, opening doors, riding in elevators and performing various tasks with fine motor actions, new features developed for the humanoid robot in partnership with Norway-based robotics company, Halodi, includes a camera system that enables full range 360° vision, robot self-docking and self-charging capabilities, a combination padded and many additional upgrades to further improve reliability and serviceability.

Since launching the robotic solution at ISC West in March 2022 (watch a demo of the robot in the show below), the team has prioritized over 180 technology enhancements in response to feedback from various partners pilots from all sectors.

“While most safety-focused robots can observe and report, we are working closely with our pilot partners and Halodi to create humanoid robots that can observe, report and interact with a human-free environment. never imagined,” said Mike Lavway, ADT Director. , Corporate Security Risk Group Operations. “The real benefit to our customers of deploying this technology is the value it brings to their security team – having a robot that can interact with its environment means less risk to a customer’s greatest asset, its staff. .”

Indoor drones

Working with Israel-based Indoor Robotics, ADT Commercial says the autonomous indoor drone technology showcased this year at GSX 2022 is intended to act as an additional layer of 24/7 surveillance integrated with other security technologies. adaptive security to also help solve labor shortages in the surveillance market and decrease the risk to human life.

“The drone currently in development can provide 360° surveillance with the added mobility and flexibility of autonomous flight, automating traditional patrol missions while expanding capabilities to interact with security incidents in near real-time without risking the staff well-being,” Lavway said. “Ultimately what we want is for our humanoid robots and indoor drones to work together as a total surveillance solution for customers.”

Luxury Swiss watchmaker Movado is currently piloting the self-contained interior drones at the group’s distribution center in Moonachie, NJ, where it is testing the technology to serve as an additional physical security measure for nighttime and weekend coverage.

“We are incredibly impressed with the technology and its potential so far, and we are extremely excited to partner with an innovator like ADT Commercial for its development,” said John Holubowicz, Director of Loss Prevention for Movado Group. . “It really feels like the future state where we are heading in terms of loss prevention and security. This technology will allow us to automate the physical responsibilities of security guards, improve the reliability of reporting conditions and has incredible potential to help reduce, if not eliminate, the occurrence of false alarms.

As the technology matures, Movado plans to expand the use of the solution to its warehouse spaces and other critical areas of its facilities, deploying a fleet of drones for emergency use cases. multiple and specific uses.

“We see innovation as a critical way to help our customers establish next-generation security programs that more effectively and successfully address the challenges they face,” said Dan Bresingham, commercial executive vice president of ADT. “Working with them directly on these key technologies sets the stage for success as we seek to revolutionize the industry and the way end users perceive their commercial security programs.”
